David Lee has led dozens of trips to Guatemala with Athentikos since 2015. He’s a graduate of Belmont University in Nashville, TN who began playing music after watching old-timers playing the blues on the front porch as a child in Mississippi. I AM ART allows David to combine his passion for creativity with his desire to help others. David lives in Nashville and loves camping, fishing, and being creative.
Amelia Moore is a multifaceted artist and educator dedicated to fostering creativity and making a difference through her work. As an art and photography teacher at Grace Christian Academy, Amelia inspires students to explore their artistic talents, encouraging them to express themselves and discover the beauty of visual arts. With a passion for capturing moments and telling stories through images, she also owns a successful photography business, where she specializes in portrait and branding photography, creating lasting memories for her clients.
Kathlyn Chan has served with Athentikos since 2014. She initially volunteered as an I AM ART camp translator in 2014 and quickly took on leadership roles. Over the last decade, she has led camps, inspiring participants to build self-confidence, learn new skills, and discover God‘s purpose for their lives.
Amy has served with Athentikos since 2016. She is vital in recruiting and organizing Guatemalan volunteers, providing logistics for teams, and managing the Athentikos art supply library through a web app she designed and programmed in 2024.
Samantha Rodas is a talented photographer and professional barista known for her keen eye for detail and exceptional coffee-making skills. Her journey into the world of photography began in her teenage years, capturing the beauty of everyday moments through her lens.
At Athentikos, Samantha plays a multifaceted role by taking captivating pictures, managing the company’s social media account, and providing translation services. Her vibrant photography, engaging posts, and language skills have significantly enhanced Athentikos’ online presence, drawing in a wider audience and building a loyal customer base.
Dave is a former church planter and business owner. He currently pastors a PCA church in Kentucky and co-hosts The Hopper Podcast. He’s been married for 28 years and has 3 children in college. Dave has served with Athentikos in various roles since 2009 and traveled to Guatemala 6 times. He likes oil painting, hiking, traveling, Nertz, movies, and drinking exceptionally dark beer.
Abby, an alumna of Belmont University, is a driven and creative young professional. She currently serves as a designer at Ramsey Solutions EntreLeadership. Beyond her role there, she also spearheads her venture, ARC&Co. Design, where she leads as the founder and head designer.
Michelle René is a creative nomad and collector of art supplies. She’s an artist, speaker, author, brand strategist, entrepreneur, and marketer. In her newest business, Indigo Hill Studio, she’s entered the world of modern quilting, speaking and teaching about creativity and designing patterns and quilty merch.
Tim brings over 30 plus years of sales and marketing experience in the promotional marketing industry to the Athentikos board. He loves sharing the transformational way God, art and Guatemala have changed him and other team members. Over the years he has become a coffee expert. This was enhanced by his many I AM ART trips to Guatemala. The coffee grown at Opal House is near and dear to his heart. He is the owner of his e-commerce store Good Bean Coffee Gifts. He loves sharing creative coffee related merch, apparel and coffee.
Katie is an Art Director who works with major commercial brands like Kelsea Ballerini, Apple Music, and the NFL. Her professional career allows her to nurture creativity and contribute to Athentikos through knowledge and resources. She participated in the original I AM ART camp in 2010 and is passionate about Honduras and Guatemala.
Scott founded Athentikos in 2008 with his wife, Amelia after adopting their sons from Guatemala. He is a Creative Director for Sony Music with two decades of award-winning film production, music production, graphic design, UX/UI, copywriting, and brand development. He is passionate about Guatemala and has traveled there over 20 times since 2006.
Sabrina Winter Shun is an expressive message artist telling stories of redemption, predominantly through mosaic. She’s served as an art teacher in various private and public arenas and created curriculum and content that facilitates healing through art. Sabrina resides in the hills of Tennessee with her devoted husband and two beautiful children.
Abby is a senior graphic designer at a marketing agency in Nashville. She has led art camps with Athentikos since November 2023 and is passionate about how God heals, refines, and redeems hearts through the creative process. She’s honored to be a part of a board that is so committed to sharing God’s gift of creativity with others.
