San Antonio 2020

OVERVIEW

San Antonio is a 10-day mission trip to Guatemala to empower 75 youth at a village in San Antonio Agua Calientes near Antigua, Guatemala using creative arts and God’s greater story of redemption.

HOSTING PARTNER

La Esuelita and Gotitas De Saber

La Esuelita (The Little School) provides after school support to elementary and middle school kids in the town of San Antonio Agua Calientes near Antigua, Guatemala. La Esuelita will be partnering with the local school, Gotitas De Saber (Little Drops of Knowlege) and Athentikos to host an I AM ART camp at the school. The team will be staying in the village of San Antonio, Agua Calientes.

Amelia Moore was introduced to the beautiful country of Guatemala in 2005 through the adoption of their two sons. Shortly after, Amelia and her husband, Scott founded Athentikos. Her formal background is in art and graphic design, and from these creative fields, she discovered a love of photography in 2003. She’s now a full-time award-winning photographer working in events and portraits whose been featured in People Magazine, OK Magazine and numerous websites. You can see examples of her work at ameliajmoore.com. Amelia has been leading teams to Guatemala for over ten years.

We’ll equip you with everything you need to impact lives through creative arts, including how to:

• Guide youth to explore their story through creative arts

• Understand the cultural and spiritual context of the trip

• Collaborate with like-minded creatives from all over the world

• Empower through story and creative arts

• Raise funds using our media and crowd-funding platform

• Promoting your trip through strategic social media

• Preparing lesson plans for a 5 day workshop using our curriculum guide

• Research and produce inspirational stories

• Select gear for international production

• Pack strategically for a short-term vision trip

Reflect on your journey before you return home.

Lake Atitlan

Three-day reflection & cultural excursion: Spend three days reflecting and exploring one of the most beautiful places on earth. Lake Atitlan is a large, crystal blue lake surrounded by three volcanoes, and only three hours from Guatemala City. Step back in time as you explore the culture of quaint villages surrounding the lake. Savor delicious local cuisine at the waterfront as the sun slips behind the volcanos. Renew and rest your soul at Casa del Mundo, a cliffside hotel only accessible by boat. If you have the margin, we highly recommend the optional Lake Atitlan excursion.

Fundraising

You don’t have to pay for anything out of pocket. We help you raise support as a 501c3 nonprofit.

TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS

Athentikos is a 501c3 nonprofit and can accept tax-deductible donations on your behalf. In addition, all I AM ART team members are offered a personal crowd-funding campaign similar to Kickstarter through our web site. We’ll coach you through the fundraising process and provide the resources you need to communicate your opportunity to grow and serve, including our films about Guatemala.
Every team member who has wanted to join an I AM ART trip has been able to raise funding to cover costs. You do not have to pay for the trip out of your pocket. If you have questions, please contact us.
